چکیده

To valorize abundant, unexploited, and low-cost agro-industrial by-products, olive pomace is proposed as a sustainable renewable raw material for cellulose microfibers (CMFs) production. In this study, CMFs were extracted from using alkaline bleaching treatments characterized in terms of morphological, structural, thermal properties. Afterward, the reinforcing capability was examined carboxymethyl (CMC) polymer matrix by solvent casting process. The effects CMF loading (1%, 3%, 5%, 10%) on composites' mechanical, physical, properties assessed. incorporation led to decrease moisture content (MC), water solubility (WS), vapor permeability (WVP) an increase tensile strength (TS), stiffness transparency values, stability CMC films. Increasing increased TS elasticity modulus 54% 79%, respectively, reduced WVP light transmissivity at 280 nm, 22% 47%, respectively. highest water, moisture, barrier, mechanical composites reached 5% CMFs.

The influence of cellulose pulp and cellulose microfibers on the flexural performance of green-engineered cementitious composites

The aim of this study was to investigate the flexural behavior of engineered cementitious composites (ECCs) reinforced by cellulose pulp (CP) and cellulose microfibers (CMF). The reinforcements were obtained from chemical-mechanical treatments of Kraft paper and used in ECC mix design. Results showed that cement reinforced by CP exhibited a strain-hardening behavior in the three-point bending t...

Green Composites Made of Bamboo Fabric and Poly (Lactic) Acid for Packaging Applications—A Review

Petroleum based thermoplastics are widely used in a range of applications, particularly in packaging. However, their usage has resulted in soaring pollutant emissions. Thus, researchers have been driven to seek environmentally friendly alternative packaging materials which are recyclable as well as biodegradable. Due to the excellent mechanical properties of natural fibres, they have been exten...

Development of Green Engineered Cementitious Composites for Sustainable Infrastructure Systems

Over the last decade, enormous strides have been made in creating engineered cementitious composites (ECC) with extreme tensile ductility, on the order of several hundred times that of normal concrete or fiber reinforced concrete (FRC). Current ECC investigations include load carrying structural members in new infrastructure systems, as well as for repair and retrofitting of existing structures...

Antifungal Activity of Phenolic Compounds Extracted from Dried Olive Pomace

The antifungal activity of phenolic compounds extracted from olive pomace against Alternaria solani, Botrytis cinerea and Fusarium culmorum was investigated. Olive pomace, a by-product of olive oil production, was used as a source of phenolic compounds. The extracted phenolics were added to a medium to reach phenol concentration of 0.1 and 0.2 % (w/v) and tested for their antifungal activity ag...
